As per a recent report by The New Indian Express, several pubs across Bengaluru’s Central and West divisions were raided by the police. Following this, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has now directed pub owners to submit their CCTV footage daily to the jurisdictional police stations.

CCB took action after catching several pubs and restaurants in Bengaluru violating multiple norms. Pub owners flouted many rules, from serving alcohol to underage customers to staying open beyond the permitted hours. Not only that, some places were also caught displaying obscene behaviour by customers. Furthermore, The raids also uncovered violations involving women employees, which further raised concerns. The police raided over 25 pubs and restaurants across the city.

Owners Told To Strictly Follow The Rules & Regulations

A senior officer from the CCB said that all pub and restaurant owners were called in for a meeting. They were strictly instructed to follow the rules and regulations in place, which include excise laws, COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) regulations, and even proper dress codes for employees, as per The New Indian Express.

The officer also stated that due to repeated violations, pub owners must now not only follow all rules but also submit CCTV footage daily for inspection. The police made this decision to closely monitor Bengaluru’s nightlife scene. It will also prevent the owners from violating the mandatory rules.
