Pakistan Launches New ‘Easy’ Visa Policy; A Bid To Attract Foreign Investment

If you have been following world news, you might know that as of now, Pakistan is in the midst of political turmoil. The country is grappling with numerous issues including but not limited to an ailing economy. Officials of the country have taken some decisions in order to improve the dire situation. Hence, Pakistan has launched a new visa policy in order to attract businessmen so that foreign investment can be attracted.

In a bid to help their country find the path back to stability, the officials have introduced a new visa policy. This new visa policy will make it easy for businessmen wanting to visit the country. According to an article recently published by Hindustan Times, the decision was taken during an SIFC meeting.

SIFC stands for Special Investment Facilitation Council. It is a military-civil hybrid body which was set up by the Shehbaz Sharif government to deal with the country’s economic woes. Under the SIFC meeting, which was held for two days, this particular visa regime had been approved for foreign businessmen.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, said that those businessmen who wish to visit the country will be issued an easy visa based on a single document from international business organisations or from their country.

WHO’s Travel Restrictions To Pakistan

The prime minister chaired the fifth apex committee committee meeting in which the visa regime was launched. It is hoped that this easy visa policy will aid in attracting foreign investment, thus helping the economy of the struggling nation.

Recently, the World Health Organisation or the WHO issued a travel advisory that warned against travel in Pakistan. This was due to the outbreak of the poliovirus. The travel ban was issued at the meeting of the 2005 International Health Regulations by the Emergency Committee of the WHO.

The travel ban was extended for another three months and the people who are travelling to the country after were advised to be cautious.
