According to NDTV, on Saturday, Pakistan approved a new ‘master plan’ to renovate and beautify temples and gurudwaras in the country. They allotted a massive sum of PKR 1 billion (₹30 crore) for the same. This decision was taken in a meeting of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).

Syed Attaur Rehman, ETPB’s Chief, confirmed the plans for renovation and said that the Pakistani government will spend a “huge amount of money” on the “decoration and development works” on “minority places of worship.” The meeting was attended by members of the Hindu and Sikh communities from all over Pakistan, as well as government and non-government members. With this project, Pakistan aims to strengthen its case of providing safety and security to the minorities living in the country and renovate temples and gurudwaras.

The provincial governments are working together with ETBP in the restoration of the ancient historical temples and gurudwaras. Reportedly, meetings are also being held to decide on a project director for the development and renovation works of these temples and gurudwaras. As of now, the officials haven’t revealed the names of the sites they will consider under this master plan.
