Now, to bring back the spirit of these places of worship, the Pakistani government has prepared a ‘master plan’ and even allotted a huge sum to renovate some of them. Scroll on to know more about this.
Pakistan Plans To Renovate Temples & Gurudwaras
According to NDTV, on Saturday, Pakistan approved a new ‘master plan’ to renovate and beautify temples and gurudwaras in the country. They allotted a massive sum of PKR 1 billion (₹30 crore) for the same. This decision was taken in a meeting of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).
Syed Attaur Rehman, ETPB’s Chief, confirmed the plans for renovation and said that the Pakistani government will spend a “huge amount of money” on the “decoration and development works” on “minority places of worship.” The meeting was attended by members of the Hindu and Sikh communities from all over Pakistan, as well as government and non-government members. With this project, Pakistan aims to strengthen its case of providing safety and security to the minorities living in the country and renovate temples and gurudwaras.
More About This Master Plan
Pakistan has more than 1,800 Sikh gurdwaras and Hindu temples in the country. However, only 31 of them are currently operational. The provincial governments are working together with ETBP in the restoration of the ancient historical temples and gurudwaras. Reportedly, meetings are also being held to decide on a project director for the development and renovation works of these temples and gurudwaras. As of now, the officials haven’t revealed the names of the sites they will consider under this master plan.
We can’t wait to see what the temples and gurudwaras in Pakistan will look like after the renovation. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
