The blades of the windmill on top of Paris’ Moulin Rouge fell into the streets overnight. The venue’s officials and firefighters in the city confirmed this news, although the reason for this incident is still unknown. Besides the windmill blades, the letters M, O, and U are also missing from the signboard of the iconic cabaret club.

Blades Of Moulin Rouge Windmill Collapses In Paris

On April 25, Paris woke up to the missing blades of its iconic Moulin Rouge windmill. According to reports, after the famous cabaret club closed for the night on Wednesday, the sails of the windmill, along with some letters on the board fell off. It is being reported that this is the first time such an accident has happened since the club opened on October 6, 1889. Besides the windmill blades, letters M, O, and U are also missing from the cabaret club’s board.

Moulin Rouge is a famous cabaret club in Paris and it sees around 600,000 visitors each year. The club is often called the birthplace of the modern form of the can-can dance and is a landmark site in the city. The red windmill blades were one of its most distinctive and famous features.

“No One Was Hurt,” Assures Officials Of The Famous Cabaret Club

So far, the reason for the collapse of the Moulin Rouge windmill blades is not known. As per Jean-Victor Clerico, the Moulin Rouge’s Director, there was no sign of “foul play.” He mentioned it is “obviously a technical problem” that caused this incident. The venue’s spokesperson highlighted that the incident “happened after closing” – around 1:15 AM (23:15 GMT) – and no one was hurt because of the blades’ collapse. According to the firefighters, there is no risk of further collapse in the iconic building’s windmill.
