‘Every living being is at the risk of falling prey to coronavirus!’ This statement is not completely true. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), pets are not at risk of catching the disease.

According to news reports, in Hong Kong, there was a dog that was tested positive for low-grade infections of coronavirus, however, it did not show any symptoms. ‘Both the CDC and the WHO, said it is likely the dog got the virus from a human and at this point, there’s no evidence pets can pass COVID-19 onto humans or other pets.’
The Centre for Disease Control also suggests that at this time there is no evidence that suggests anything that hints towards people getting infected from dogs. Unfortunately, there has been a spike in the number of pets that have been abandoned by people, succumbing to the fear, which is extremely sad.
When people in China were asked to evacuate, some of them had to leave their pets behind. While some are now facing starvation, others are being hunted down, as it being suspected that they could be carriers of the virus; numerous news reports suggest.

AFCD has made an official statement stating that ‘until now, there is no evidence that pets can be a source of infection or get infected by Covid-19.
