The Centre took a major step in the current times of pricey food ingredients sold in the market. The retail cost of the tur dal has seen a major spike and in between all these, the Centre started a new initiative where they launched chana dal at a subsidised rate. The new move has been launched under the brand known as “Bharat Dal”. Read on to know all about this beginning.

The Union Food Minister made the announcement about the sale of subsidised chana dal on Monday. Launched under the Bharat Dal brand, consumers can purchase this subsidised chana dal spending ₹60 for 1 kg. And a 30 kg pack costs ₹55 per kg. This new move is going to be a help for many consumers as the cost of chana dal is quite expensive right now and the subsidised rate surely brings relief to many.

Piyush Goyal shared in a statement how this new move by the government will help in the availability of pulses at affordable rates. With the Bharat Dal brand, the chana dal stock of the government is further converted into chana dal, the Minister added.

The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) is currently undertaking the process of the distribution of chana dal. NAFED is working on its milling, and packaging, and also distributing it in Delhi-NCR. The retail stores of NAFED in Delhi-NCR are selling this chana dal, according to a report by the Economic Times. Also, consumers can purchase this pulse at a subsidised rate from the outlets of NCCF, Kendriya Bhandarm, and Safal.
