Mumbai Metro’s two new lines 2A and 7 are a recent addition for commuters to travel by. The 35 km stretch of these routes will probably be inaugurated by our Prime Minister on his arrival date. However, there is no confirmation as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have to attend the World Economic Forum from 15th to 19th January 2023. They will be in Davos for this particular meeting. While this visit can bring them a lot of investment opportunities for Maharashtra, there might be some changes in plans. There is a possibility of them arriving early in Mumbai.

Permissions And Legalities

Though people are excited for these new lines to open, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, or MMRDA, is still waiting for confirmation of inauguration dates from the government. To brush up on past obstacles, then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray halted the first phase of construction of 2A and 7 lines because of its route.

Anyways, these lines pass through Western Express Highway and Link Road and will help reduce traffic. Also, according to authorities, nearly three lakh passengers travel by metro and revenue from this will take care of rail maintenance and operation.
