The government of India is making ongoing efforts to strengthen the bonds between the Tamil people and the Saurashtra people of Gujarat. The foundation of this bond purportedly goes back ages. It is said that the two peoples have always been a great support in many ways including culturally and linguistically. In order to further cement this relationship, the government of has launched the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam which will celebrate the cultural heritage of the two people.

Highlights From Day 1 Of STS Enthuse The PM

This particular festival began on the 17th of April and will continue till the 30th of April. This 13-day celebration is set to cement the bond between the two cultures and celebrate their mutual and shared history.

The festival will take place in Gujarat at Somnath, Dwarka, and the Statue of Unity. The first day of this beautiful festival happened yesterday and the highlights of the event were all over the Internet.

The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, was one of the key proponents of this festival as it aligned with his vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’ For him, the festival uniquely celebrates the unity of two diverse yet united cultures of India.

He recently took to his Twitter to express his delight at the vibrancy and festivity of the first day of this festival which is 13 days long. Among other things, it featured folk songs and dances that highlighted the distinctiveness of the two cultures and their bond.

About The Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam

This 13-day festival is all set to cement the bond between the people of Tamil Nadu and the Saurashtra people from Gujarat. Delegates from Tamil Nadu arrived in Gujarat via the super-fast train designated specifically for this festival.

It left Madurai and reached Veraval carrying the first cluster of delegates for the festival. This cultural initiative by the government of India is aimed at celebrating the common yet diverse history of two of the most prominent cultures of India.
