PM Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to the US. This visit is a significant diplomatic move for India. The key focus is on enhancing India’s role in the Indo-Pacific region, strengthening ties with the US, and addressing global challenges.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed PM Modi’s departure on social media. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted that Modi is en route to the US to participate in the 6th Quad Leaders’ Summit and to address the United Nations’ ‘Summit of the Future’. PM Modi’s visit began with the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, the hometown of US President Joe Biden. The Quad is an alliance between India, Australia, Japan, and the US. Its aim is to promote stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

During the summit, the leaders will review the progress made by the Quad over the past year. They will also set new goals for the coming year. Key issues include the Russia-Ukraine conflict, rising tensions in West Asia, and challenges in the Indo-Pacific. The summit will focus on addressing development priorities and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Cancer Moonshot initiative, aimed at tackling cancer in the Indo-Pacific, will also be launched at the summit.

Details Of The Visit

Following the Quad Summit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with the leaders of the Quad nations. These meetings are expected to strengthen India’s ties with the US, Australia, and Japan.

On September 22, PM Modi will travel to New York. He is scheduled to meet with members of the Indian diaspora in Long Island. The Indian diaspora in the US plays a vital role in strengthening ties between the two nations. This event will further emphasise India’s bond with its overseas community.

In addition, Modi will meet with CEOs of leading US-based companies. These discussions will focus on collaboration in areas like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, and semiconductors. This is expected to boost investment and partnerships between the two countries.

The final day of Modi’s visit will see him address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations in New York.
