Ujjain In Madhya Pradesh Is Home To Worldās First Vedic Clock
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Index Of India ā Tech & Infra (@MagnifyIndia1) shared a picture of the first-ever Vedic Clock positioned in Ujjain.
On February 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this timepiece in Madhya Pradeshās Ujjain virtually. Known as the Vikramaditya Vedic Clock. it has been installed on an 85-foot tower. The location of mounting the clock on a tower in Ujjainās Jantar Mantar. This unique establishment is quite close to the Government Jiwaji Observatory.
The Vedic Clock unveiled recently has a connection with the ancient time calculation system of Panchang. The design of the timepiece focuses on representing time on the basis of this traditional time system. According to a report by India TV news, this first-of-its-kind clock will also show information about astrological calculations, planetary positions, Muhurat, specify Indian Standard Time (IST) and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and more.
Back on November 6, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone of this Vedic Clock. Experts believe that the standard time of the world was set about 3 centuries back from Ujjain. A release stated how this timepiece is here to restore the oldest and proper Indian time calculation system.

How Does It Calculate Time?

The functioning of the Vikramaditya Vedic Clock is indeed one-of-a-kind. To calculate and display time, it will depend on the sunrise. From one sunrise to the next, the timepiece will calculate the exact time. And for this process, the long duration is now split into 30 parts, according to a report by LiveMint. As per the ISD, each hour of these parts has 48 minutes. Now comes the main part, the time display. The reading starts every day with the sunrise from 0:00. It operates for 30 hours with each hour having 48 minutes.
