Madhya Pradesh has always been in news for its fast-growing infrastructure and now it has one more feather on its cap. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating the first ‘world-class’ railway station during his visit to Madhya Pradesh. The redeveloped Rani Kamlapati Railway Station, formerly known as Habibganj railway station has been rechristened after the Gond queen Rani Kamlapati.
The Station Will have Ease Of Mobility For Disabled People
The railway station has airport-like amenities redeveloped and has been redeveloped at a cost of ₹450 crores under the Public-Private Partnership. The world-class railway station has been designed as a green building with ease of mobility for disabled people. It will be a hub for integrated multi-model transport. The Prime Minister will also flag off new MEMU trains between Ujjain and Indore during the event and launch multiple initiatives of the Railways in Madhya Pradesh. This will include an electrified Ujjain-Fatehabad Chandrawatiganj broad gauge section.

The Old Stationed Has Been Rechristened To Honour Rani Kamlapati
The Madhya Pradesh government had earlier sent a letter to the Union home ministry to rename Habibganj Railway Station after the tribal queen to honour Rani Kamlapati’s legacy and bravery. Announcing its name, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said “Her kingdom was usurped by Afghan commander Dost Mohammed by deceit under a conspiracy. When she saw that victory was not possible, she committed ‘Jal Jauhar’ (a practice of committing suicide) to save her respect.”
