PM Narendra Modi Visits Pune’s Famous Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple; Here’s Why You Should Too

People from Pune and those who have visited Pune surely know the importance and beauty of Pune’s famous Dagdusheth Ganpati temple. The temple is known across the country for its grandeur and rich legacy. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pune on Tuesday to launch several development projects in the city. But before that, he visited the iconic Dagdusheth Ganpati temple and offered his prayers.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted puja at the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh Mandir in Pune, which has a long history and rich legacy. He also posted several pictures from his temple visit, including some where he is seen performing a small pooja. 

The revered Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh Temple’s trustees were happy to greet the honourable Prime Minister and let him know that he was the first Prime Minister to ever go there and participate in the auspicious pooja rituals.

After visiting a temple, Prime Minister Modi commemorated the solemn anniversary of the late, acclaimed liberation hero Lokmanya Tilak. The famous Lokmanya Tilak National Award will also be given to the Prime Minister as a token of appreciation for his remarkable accomplishments.

Lord Ganesha Fulfils Wishes

Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir is a beautiful Hindu temple in Pune and is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is believed that whoever visits this temple and prays with a pure heart, Lord Ganesha fulfils that person’s every wish.

The Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple is named for a well-known trader and confectioner by the name of Dagdusheth Halwai, who relocated from Karnataka to Pune and constructed the temple there after losing his son to the plague.

Currently, the temple idol is insured for $1,60,000 (about Rs 1 crore). Every day, at specific times, five Maha Artis are organised. When Ganesha’s idol is extensively adorned in jewellery, it is breathtaking to see. Everyone may observe the festivities from outside because of the temple’s unique construction.

One of the wealthiest trusts in Maharashtra, the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust, uses its gifts for charity and social welfare initiatives.
