Delhi Airport T1 Roof Near Arrivals Gives Way
Viral videos of a tarpaulin at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 giving way to a thunderstorm have taken over social media. The heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday morning damaged a section of the external tensile fabric. A portion of T1’s arrival forecourt tore open as water splashed around. Photos and videos of the roof’s damage took over social media. An expansive section of the overhang collapsed on the pavement. Water gushed around, flowing over cars parked outside the airport.
A video reposted by an X user, @durgeshkdubey captured the mayhem that took place in Delhi Airport. In the caption, Dubey stated that a DIAL spokesperson mentioned that Delhi Airport didn’t face any structural damage to Terminal 1. Ground teams instantly arrived on the scene and helped restore normal operations. They ensured minimise disruption to operations and restored normalcy at the terminal. Moreover, in the caption he stated that a part of the external tensile fabric adjusted under pressure to help with water dispersal. This led to it giving way.
