On this episode of Tere Gully Mein, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, explored the south Indian cuisine in the lanes of Matunga with the stunning actor Priya Mani. She has worked in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada films. One of the recent ones was Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’. Yes, she was a part of the girl squad in this film. For our video, we ate delectable food, laughed and conversed about a lot of things. Check out Priya Mani’s views on Udupi food joints in Karnataka.

Priya Mani Believes South Indian Food In Karnataka Is The Best!

For our Matunga food trail with Priya, we had to begin with the popular, Ram Ashraya! We took Mumbai’s iconic kaali peeli taxi to reach this famous South Indian restaurant to indulge in lip-smacking filter coffee, Mangalorean puri and neer dosa. While travelling, we talked about her love for Bengaluru, Karnataka and whether she misses her home.

The ‘Jawan’ actor had mixed feelings about not being in her beloved city and misses it dearly. Kamiya mentioned the legendary food joints in Bengaluru, CTR and MTR. Our guest nodded her head, indicating that she not only misses the ‘Silicon Valley of India’ but also its delish food.

Priya continued about those iconic food joints, “I say, idli, sambar and chutney that you get at Udupi joints in Karnataka, you won’t get anywhere else!” Having spent more of her life in this state, she added, “That’s why I say, I am a tough nut to crack because I am used to the food at those Udupi joints.”

What Was Her Reaction?

Kamiya assured her that the food trail was going to be epic as the first eatery was one of the most authentic South Indian restaurants in Mumbai. However, the pressure on us, Mumbaikars, was extremely high! Slowly, the food items were brought out and they indulged one by one.

Priya quite liked the dosa, coffee and even Mangalorean puri. Both of them were having the last item for the first time and enjoyed it likewise. Having filter coffee with her made us realise that she prefers it without sugar and isn’t fond of the frothy layer on top.
