Professional Photographers Now Need Permission To Shoot Eiffel Tower At Night

The Eiffel Tower in Paris is known to be one of the most romantic structures in the world. From dreamy proposals, iconic film scenes to fun vacations, it’s been witness to special moments. The Eiffel Tower is so popular that every year there are millions of photos clicked from the iconic structure and millions more are added on a daily basis. However, professional photographers may have to think twice before capturing the spectacle at night. Here’s why.

Professional Photographers Need Permission To Click Eiffel Tower Pictures At Night

Tourists visiting the Eiffel Tower can capture pictures at any time of the day without any hesitation. But this is not the case with professional photographers. As per toureiffel.paris, clicking photos of the Eiffel Tower is not illegal for tourists. They can click pictures and upload them on social media. But for professional photographers, the Eiffel Tower’s night lighting is protected by copyright.

Why Is This Rule Imposed?

So, what does this mean? Professional photographers have to first take prior permission from the authorities of the Eiffel Tower by paying a set fee to click photos of the structure at night. They must contact the Eiffel Tower’s management company. There are certain terms and conditions imposed on not just clicking but even using those pictures. So, these must be understood beforehand. So, this rule doesn’t apply to tourists using DSLRs. It’s mainly valid for professional photographers who click pictures of the Eiffel Tower for mass circulation. Meanwhile, do you know about Macao’s Eiffel Tower replica?
