Pune International Airport will soon get a new integrated terminal building with some amazing features. The integration of the new building with the current one is one of this project’s essential components.
An airport official stated that the work on its airside has already begun. They are waiting for the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to grant them clearance for dismantling and shifting the cargo hold.
The new terminal building will have 10 aerobridges, 72 check-in desks, and an in-line baggage processing system once it is finished. It will be 7,50,000 square feet in size overall and be able to handle 16 million passengers annually. (As per Pune Now)

The building will be energy-efficient and have a GRIHA rating of four stars. For the sake of visitors, a 36,000-square foot area has been set aside for F&B and retail businesses.
The front of the public space beneath the spacious verandah is supported by lovely Maratha arches and ornamented columns. They have a finish of local dark stone, which is generally observed in most of the heritage monuments in Maharashtra.
The new forecourt garden design was primarily inspired by the Shaniwar Wada Gardens, one of Pune’s most recognizable landmarks.
The pandemic caused a delay in the development of the new terminal, which had been started in 2018 at a cost of Rs475 crore. The larger terminal is intended to provide numerous new amenities for visitors while also resolving the ongoing issue of crowding.
