Gujarat’s Junagadh Witnesses Flash Floods Due To Heavy Rainfall, Red Alert Issued In Many Cities

Numerous areas of Gujarat and the Saurashtra district have been battered by constant rain, which has caused a flood-like condition throughout the state. Urban regions as well as remote village areas were both submerged by the severe to extremely heavy rains. After Dhoraji in Rajkot, Gujarat’s Junagadh is facing flash floods after very heavy rainfall. In order to assess the situation, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel interrupted his official activities in Rajkot and went to the district collector’s office.

Gujarat’s Junagadh Witnesses Flash Floods

Up to 4 pm on Saturday, Junagadh city in eight hours, received 219 mm of rain. Numerous parked cars and cattle were washed away in rushing rivers after the heavy rains. Wading through waist-deep water to reach safer areas was observed. 

Volunteers saved several of them from being swept away by strong currents. According to the Gujarat government, flooding in the Junagadh district was caused by low-lying areas. By this evening, at least 250 people had been moved to safer locations as part of an operation. 

According to officials, a mechanism is being set up for the accommodation and provision of food for the evacuees. Many scary visuals from the city are doing rounds on social media currently.

Heavy To Very Rainfall Expected For The Next Three Days

River and dam water levels have also been increasing to dangerous levels. People in the state faced numerous issues due to flooding and traffic jams.

The south Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch districts are expected to have heavy to very heavy rainfall through Sunday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Additionally, it stated that during the course of the next three days, severe to very heavy rain will persist in numerous other districts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch.

For Junagadh, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Kutch, Surat, Valsad, Navsari, and Surat, IMD issued a red alert. Additionally, Surendranagar, Dahod, Rajkot, Batod, and Vadodara received a yellow alert.

Devbhumi Dwarka, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, and Amreli are the districts that had significant rainfall on Saturday. Ahmedabad too is facing the wrath of nature, with visuals of its airport and other places getting flooded.
