In a tragic series of events, a helicopter crashed in the Paude region of Pune. The helicopter was carrying four people including the captain. Fortunately, though, all four of the passengers survived the crash, although they did sustain major injuries. The cause of the crash is the inclement weather in the region. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this tragic crash in Pune.

Pune Helicopter Crash: Pilot’s Smart Manoeuvre Saved Lives

According to an article which was recently published by The Free Press Journal or the FPJ, this particular helicopter was on the way to Hyderabad from Mumbai. As per a senior air traffic control officer cited in the FPJ article, the rotor level in the helicopter malfunctioned.

This led to the helicopter losing altitude rapidly. The helicopter could have crashed and injured the civilians in the open field. However, owing to some quick thinking and smart manoeuvres by the captain, this tragedy was avoided. In addition to the captain, the helicopter was carrying a co-pilot and two crew members.

All of them luckily made it out alive but sustained injuries. Especially the captain whose head was seriously injured. They are being treated in a local hospital for their injuries. The helicopter was privately owned and belonged to Global Vectra Company which is headquartered in Juhu, Mumbai.

Other Important Details About This Tragic Accident In Pune

The model of the helicopter was Augusta Westland 139. If reports are to go by, the inclement weather in the area is also being attributed as the cause of the pilot losing control and crashing. Many people took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share pictures and videos of the crash.

It is hoped that all the injured will recover soon from the injuries of the crash. The company, Global Vectra, owns a fleet of 29 helicopters and aircraft and it provides business charter flights as well as offshore oil explorations.
