Pune-Nashik Highway To Get An Elevated Corridor

The construction of an elevated corridor is proposed with the aim to alleviate the traffic congestion on the Pune-Nashik highway. Under the guidance of the National Highways Authority of India, this project will ease traffic congestion and the expected increase in traffic for the next 50 years.

The aim is to make sure that the process is accelerated and completed in the given timeframe so that the issue of traffic is solved as soon as possible.

The National Highways Authority of India delivered a comprehensive presentation on the existing traffic congestion and future planning in the areas along the Pune-Nashik highway.

These areas include areas like Kasarwadi, Moshi, and Bhosari along the highway that passes through the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Officials Have Estimated The Capacity

MLA Mahesh Landge and the BJP city president emphasised on an important topic. They spoke on how solving traffic congestion issues is not only important on the highway.  The traffic on the internal roads and metro roads should also be taken care of.

This project will comprise an eight-lane highway from Nashik Phata to Moshi. The existing road will be upgraded to a 4- or 6-lane one, including 2-lane services on either side. With this, an 8-lane elevated flyover that will be supported by a single pillar will also be constructed at Tier 1.

The ‘elevated corridor’ that runs through the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal boundaries. That it is 29.81 km long from Nashik Phata to Khed was highlighted in the presentation. An eight-lane highway, a double-decker metro line, service roads, and ramps are all included in the plan.

The officials have estimated the capacity of the Pune-Nashik ‘elevated corridor’ to be 397,000 vehicles daily.
