When we think of online ticketing, we think about ease of booking and convenience. However, that’s not always the case! Tourists visiting Pune’s Shaniwar Wada have complained about the online ticket booking system. According to reports, people struggle to book tickets online and have to try multiple times to book a slot. Read on to know more about this.
Online Ticketing At Shaniwar Wada Pune Frustrate Tourists
A few months ago, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) introduced a mandatory online ticketing system at Shaniwar Wada, Pune. The aim was to streamline the ticketing system and make it easier for visitors to book tickets for this famous tourist attraction. However, as per Pune Mirror, the tourists are struggling with this online ticketing system.
According to the report, the fairly new QR code scanning entry system at Shaniwar Wada is quite frustrating for tourists. Many of them have expressed their annoyance and revealed that they have to spend hours booking tickets via their phones. Despite that, they face trouble accessing the site to book tickets. Because of this, many visitors end up leaving without actually taking a tour of the Wada.
Prima facie, tourists simply have to provide their phone numbers and download the tickets to enter Shaniwar Wada. However, this fairly simple process is causing quite an inconvenience and is very time-consuming. People have complained about filling out the same information multiple times but the booking is not being accepted. Furthermore, there are no trained staff at the location that can help assist the tourists.
Issue More Prevalent On Weekends & Public Holidays
The issue of online ticket booking at Shaniwar Wada is more prominent on the weekends and public holidays. According to Pune Mirror, the surge in the number of visitors on holidays makes ticketing even more difficult for people. People are now requesting the authorities to bring back the cash-based ticketing option for the ease of tourists. They also suggested a mix of both online and on-site cash booking systems, to make the whole process more convenient and seamless.
We hope ASI resolves this issue as soon as possible. Have you faced a similar situation at any other historic site in the country? Let us know in the comments.
