In an unfortunate turn of events, a horrific ammonia gas leak was reported at an ice factory in Punjab. According to multiple reports, it leaked from a factory located close to the Domoria bridge. From people facing issues due to suffocation to the loss of life, the situation turned out to be terribly devastating. Teams of police and fire tenders rushed the spot at the earliest. Ammonia Gas Leaked At A Factory in Punjab
Taking to X, Akashdeep Thind (@thind_akashdeep) shared a video of the tragic incident in Jalandhar.
A person died due to the accident in the Jalandhar district. On Saturday, the ammonia gas leaked at around 2 PM, triggering a heartwrenching accident at the factory. The sudden gas leakage caused problems with breathing, suffocation, eye irritation, and more among many people. Locals living nearby felt a strong smell and some effects on Saturday afternoon.
According to a report published by India Today, people could experience the effects of the incident from a distance of over 1 km. Several people staying about a kilometre away from the gas leak spot could sense uncomfortable surroundings and suffocation issues.
Officials shared that police have sealed the ice factory following the ammonia gas leak. Also, police diverted vehicular movement near that area to focus on everyone’s safety after the major mishap. Fire tenders, ambulance, and emergency services were dispatched to the factory.

Soon, they rescued six individuals from the spot. Among them, a person fell unconscious succumbing to the effects and was rescued in that state. Unfortunately, the unconscious person died in the accident. The remaining five people are currently in a stable state.
Updates About Investigation
The local deputy commissioner of Jalandhar has ordered a magisterial probe into the tragic incident. According to the instructions, the sub-divisional magistrate needs to submit a detailed report about the ammonia gas leak incident within 15 days.
