The morning of the first day of April was a bit different from the other days for the sanitation workers who render their duties around Nabha in the Patiala district of Punjab. The people in the area turned up on this day with great enthusiasm, ushering praises on these workers who have risked their lives amid the coronavirus crisis to ensure the cleanliness of the households and the city.
A Token Of Appreciation
Residents of the Nabha locality came to their rooftops on the morning of 1st April and showered flower petals on the garbage collectors who visit door-to-door every day to pick up the scraps. When everybody is attempting to keep the cleanliness quotient high, using sanitizers over and over, these waste collectors are exposing themselves to all the dirt and dust. The Nabha residents clapped for their sacrifices and some even stepped out wearing masks offering garlands of currency notes to a worker, patting him on the back.

The Good Samaritans
While we have been pushed indoors to combat the spread of the deadly virus, the cleanliness workers, the grocery men, the milkmen, the doctors, the policemen and the food delivery personnel are constantly fulfilling their responsibilities to make sure that we survive through these hard days without any hassle.
Punjab was one of the first states to announce a total shutdown of public transport before the 21-day curfew. Apart from those providing essential services, some politicians of the state also came forward to distribute ration among the needy to ensure that they do not succumb to hunger issues during this crucial time.
