Qutub Minar, the iconic monument in Delhi, recently lit up in solidarity with the Rwandan nationals. The monument exhibited Rwandan flag colours to commemorate the genocide of more than 800,000 people in 1994. The genocide in the East African nation was led for 100 days by the Hutu extremist group. Scores of Tutsu lives were lost in the massacre. To show solidarity with Rwanda, the monument lit up in the flag colours.
Qutub Minar Lights Up In Rwandan Flag Colours On Sunday
According to an article which was recently published by NDTV, Dammu Ravi of the Ministry of External Affairs the Secretary (Economic Relations) is currently on a visit to Kigali. He is there representing India at the 30th commemoration of the genocide in Kigali, the Rwandan Capital.
In order to show solidarity with the Rwandan government, Qutub Minar lit up in the colours of the Rwandan flag. Many people took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared pictures of the iconic monument in the colours of the Rwandan flag.
Randhir Jaiswal, who is an official spokesperson of the MEA, also took to X. He talked about the initiative by the Indian government to show solidarity with Rwanda. Former US President Bill Clinton was also present at the event and dubbed the massacre as one of the biggest failures of his administration.

About The Genocide Committed In Rwanda By The Hutu Group
In 1994, an extremist group carried out a massive genocide of the Tutsi people. Known as the Hutu extremists, the group believed in the racial superiority of Hutu people. They portrayed the Tutsi people as invaders and oppressors.
Records suggest that the genocide of the Tutsi people went on for around 100 days and as many as 800,000 people were massacred. The genocide began on April 7, 1994, and is widely deemed one of the worst atrocities in human history.
