At least three people died and more than 45 fell sick after toxic gas leaked from a tanker parked at an acid factory in Rajasthan. As per reports, the gas leak occurred around 10 PM on March 31 in Rajasthan’s Beawar district and also resulted in the deaths of several pets and stray animals.

According to an NDTV report, a nitrogen gas leak at an acid factory in Rajasthan claimed three lives, including the factory owner. The incident happened at Sunil Trading Company in the Badiya area of Rajasthan’s Beawar district, as a tanker was emptying nitrogen gas into the factory’s warehouse. Reports suggest that the nitrogen gas was so severe that within seconds, the gas spread to the nearby residential areas, affecting the people inside their homes.

More than 45 people have been hospitalised because of the gas leak. As per reports, the factory owner, Sunil Singhal, tried throughout the night to control the gas leak but succumbed to its effects. He was taken to a hospital in Ajmer. However, his health deteriorated and he later passed away. Several residents experienced suffocation and eye irritation. Many of them were rushed to government and private hospitals in Beawar for treatment. Later, the police, administrative officials, and fire brigade teams managed to control the gas leakage by around 11 PM.

Factory Sealed By Authorities Now

As a precautionary measure, the authorities decided to evacuate the nearby area to prevent further casualties. The administration is monitoring the situation closely and has decided to seal the acid factory for now. While the gas’ impact has subsided, panic still lingers among residents.

Due to the nitrogen gas leakage in Rajasthan’s Beawar, the people living around the factory were having difficulty breathing. To reduce the leakage effect, the fire department poured water on the tanker and closed the lid. This helped them bring the situation under control. Furthermore, to know more about the incident, the administration team started investigating the accident.
