Kutch is one of India’s largest flamingo habitats, with thousands of birds arriving here every winter. The Great Rann, often called “Flamingo City”, becomes a key gathering spot, especially in the mudflats near Kala Dungar. Located about 10 km from the Nir outpost, this area is also known as the only regular breeding ground for Greater Flamingos in South Asia.
A nearly 30-km stretch of the Great Rann of Kutch turns into shallow wetlands during the migratory season, attracting large flocks of flamingos. Taking to Instagram, Deputy CM Sanghavi shared a drone view of the place as thousands of flamingos take over the landscape. In the caption, he wrote, “A surreal drone view of flamingoes in Kutch, like nature’s own masterpiece unfolding in perfect harmony.”
