The Stunning New Swaminarayan Mandir In Jodhpur

According to NDTV, the new Swaminarayan Mandir in Jodhpur is a stunning architectural marvel that is built entirely of Jodhpur sandstone. Built by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), the temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the founder of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. He is widely remembered for his lessons on moral living and social upliftment.

The new temple is a stunning blend of intricate craftsmanship, spiritual heritage, and artistry that Rajasthan is known for. The Swaminarayan Mandir in Jodhpur is designed in the ancient Nagara style. It revived the Maru-Gurjara (Solanki) architecture of the 10th-13th centuries and was built under the guidance of Mahant Swami Maharaj, the current spiritual successor.

More About This Architectural Marvel

As per reports, Jodhpur’s Swaminarayan Mandir features five spires, one grand dome, 14 smaller domes, 281 carved pillars, and 121 ornate arches. The temple houses 151 intricately carved sacred idols. It also has stunning stone lattice walls that help naturally cool the temple interiors.

The temple complex spans across 42 bighas, with 10 bighas of gardens, where you can find 500 trees and 5,500 plants. It took over 500 skilled artisans from Rajasthan and Gujarat to make this temple in almost seven years. The Swaminarayan Mandir in Jodhpur is made entirely of sandstone, which the city is known for. Furthermore, the artists used the traditional interlocking stone technique to make the temple structure. This means that no cement or metal was used to make the temple structure.
