Starring in a blockbuster comedy movie ‘Bhul Chuk Maaf’, Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi recently joined us for an amazing Sunday Brunch. The dynamic duo met our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, and spilt all about their acting careers, their childhoods, their love for food and travelling, and a lot more; read on to learn all about it.
Rajkummar Rao And Wamiqa Gabbi Talk About Their Sunday Brunches As A Kid
We were curious to know what they are hungry for more — acting or food? Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajkummar Rao both agreed on a balance of the two. Kamiya Jani revealed that the last time she met Rajkummar Rao, he shared that he used to eat 17 aloo parathas in one go, and Wamiqa added that just yesterday, he had got aloo ka paratha from his home.
While she thought she would just take a bite to try how it is, she ended up eating one whole paratha. That’s how delicious it was! Rajkummar Rao said, I think North India ke sabhi gharon mein aloo parathe bahut acche bante hain. North India mein sabki mummy best chef hoti hai.”
Since they both hail from different parts of North India, we were curious to learn if there were any similarities between Haryana and Punjab or the differences that they felt. Rajkummar Rao said that since Haryana was once part of Punjab, there are a lot of similarities in spite of some differences. For example, farming is one of the biggest industries in both states. While there is a difference in language and tone, the food shares some resemblance.
Talking about their Sunday brunches in childhood, Wamiqa Gabbi revealed that for her, it used to be either some parathas or a heavy brunch with something special. Rajkummar Rao reminisced about those days and said, “Subah Chitrahaar dekho, phir Mahabharat dekho, phir aapko pata hai ya to rajma chawal banega ya chole chawal dopahar mein. Kya mazedar din the.”
Rajkummar Rao’s Love For Banaras
Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s latest movie ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ has been shot in Banaras, and we wanted to know more about their experience exploring the city. Wamiqa Gabbi said that while it was her first time visiting the city, Rajkummar Rao has been there quite a few times and calls it his second home.
Rajkummar Rao added that there’s a magic in the air of the city, and you feel spiritually alive just by being there. Referring to one of his trips to Banaras around 10 years ago, he shared that he went to the city with his now-wife Patralekha, and in one of the narrow gullies of Banaras, they tried rabdi. It was so delicious that they reminisce about the taste even today. However, they could never find that spot again.
In this episode, Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi also shared the highlights of their careers when they finally felt that they had achieved something. To know what they are, watch the full episode on the Curly Tales YouTube channel.
