Rajkummar Rao Spills All About His Visit To His Sasural In Shillong

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi met our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, over a chilled-out brunch at Bawri in Mumbai. In a candid conversation, Rajkummar shared how his wife’s hometown, Shillong, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places. Rajkummar and Wamiqa also mentioned how the term ‘brunch’ is trendy now, but as foodies, they’ve been enjoying it since childhood. Read on to learn more about it.

Rajkummar Rao’s Experience In Shillong

Rajkummar Rao shared that, because of his wife Patraleka, he has become well-versed in Bengali vegetarian cuisine, and now he truly enjoys eating it. When Kamiya asked him which was the one special place he liked in Shillong, Rajkummar replied, “Just being in Shillong, staying at the house is peaceful because you’re cut off from everything, and when you’re there, you’ve to do nothing. “Waha pe ‘nothing’ karna is the best.” He continued, ”Even if you go a little outside Shillong, just half an hour away, it is so serene; the water bodies, hills, nature and everything there is beautiful.”

Guess Who Can Eat Up To 17 ‘Aalo Ke Parathe’

Kamiya shared a surprising fact about Rajkummar: he can eat 17 Aloo Ke Parathas in one sitting. Shocking, isn’t it? Adding to the fun, Wamiqa revealed that just yesterday, Rajkummar brought some parathas, and she ended up having an entire paratha! She said, “Definitely 17 toh kha hi jayenge ye.” When Kamiya asked him to share the special recipe for the paratha, Rajkummar Rao said that every mom in the north of India is the best chef.

The duo continued sharing what their Sundays looked like as kids. Wamiqa said that every morning, Rajma, Chawal, Saag, and Todde (makki ki roti) were made, making it a memorable childhood memory. Rajkummar added, “Lekin kya sahi din the wo, subah Chitrahaar dekho, Mahabharat dekho aur Rajma ya Chole Chawal khao.” Wamiqa shared that they used to have this heavy lunch around 11 am–12 pm every Sunday, which is now known as ‘brunch,’ but they have been doing it for a long time.
