There are plans to expand the terminal to the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. With a significant expansion adding 30,000 m² to the terminal, it aims to boost tourism in the emirate. Here’s all you need to know about this development that’s coming in from Ras Al Khaimah

Terminal Expansion Of Ras Al Khaimah

A project that is being led by Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, who is the Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and the Airport Board, is a key project that aims to boost tourism in the emirate. It would add to the existing departure of 4933 m² and arrival of 3134 m² of the terminal. Not to mention it is expected, as revealed in a report by Khaleej Times, that the terminal would feature of slew of amenities that would make it easier for travellers to pass through the airport.

What About The Amenities?

These amenities could include an advanced baggage handling system, upgraded custom and police services, electronic gates, and even better passport control that would significantly improve the passenger experience even better. This development comes at a time when new hotels and development projects are emerging in the Al Marjan Island of Ras Al Khaimah. However, it is expected that the construction of the terminal will be completed by 2028 as per the same report.

An Increase In The Number Of Passengers

The development comes at a time when Ras Al Khaimah airport recently recorded 3,32,280 passengers in the first four months of 2025. Out of this, 1,64,691 were arrivals, 1,44,045 were departures, and 23,544 were transit passengers. In fact, the highest number of arrivals was for April, while January saw the highest number of transit passengers.

So with the rise of 28% as compared to the previous year, the addition of the new terminal is going to cater to the increasing tourists, and make the experience a lot smoother for them.
