Raksha Bandhan is an Indian festival that celebrates the relationship of a brother and sister. On this beautiful occasion, several state governments have decided to offer free travel for women. Take a look at which states are offering free bus rides for women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

UP Offers Free Bus Rides For Women On Raksha Bandhan

The Uttar Pradesh government has stated that women will get free bus travel from midnight on August 30 to midnight on August 31. This is a special gesture to commemorate the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

According to the state’s joint secretary, Kalyan Banerjee, this privilege will be available in all 14 districts of the state. And it will be made possible by Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). On city buses in several districts, women will have access to free transportation services. The districts include Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Aligarh, Moradabad, Jhansi, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Agra, Shahjahanpur, and Mathura-Vrindavan.

Himachal Pradesh & Haryana Offers Free Travel For Women

On the occasions of Raksha Bandhan and Bhaiya Dooj, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation plans to offer women in government buses free travel accommodations. Since Raksha Bandhan is on August 30, the HRTC decided to give women free bus trips in consideration of the festival’s significance.

As a present for Raksha Bandhan, the Haryana government on Wednesday declared free travel for women in the state-run buses. Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, has approved a proposal in this regard, according to transport minister Mool Chand Sharma.

He claimed that for the past few years, the department had offered free transport services to ladies in honour of Raksha Bandhan. As in the previous year, women can make use of the free travel option with their kids up to the age of 15.

Surat, Indore & Bhopal Are Also Offering Free Bus Rides!

Like every year, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has granted free travel for women and children on the day of the Raksha Bandhan celebration. A dedicated bus for women only will run on the ONGC-Sarthana route as an experiment, according to SMC.

The board of the Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited, Indore, has offered free transportation for women on city buses, i-buses and electric buses operating in the city. According to Pushyamitra Bhargava, the mayor and chairman of the AICTSL Board, and Jaipal Singh Chavda, the chairman of the Indore Development Authority and vice chairman of the AICTSL Board. More than 1.25 lakh women, girls, and female students use AICTSL buses in the city every day.

All women and girls in Bhopal will be able to ride the city bus for free. They will be able to travel for free on Rakhi to Mandideep and Bhojpur in addition to taking buses across the city. This facility for women in Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) buses has been declared by the city’s mayor.

Uttarakhand & Rajasthan Are Offering Free Bus Services Too!

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women can now travel for free on Uttarakhand buses on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. In buses operated by Uttarakhand Roadways, women would have access to free transportation both inside Uttarakhand and to neighbouring states. The timings will be from noon on 30 August to midnight on 31 August in observance of Raksha Bandhan. In fact, free travel is available on buses operated by the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation that go through other states as well as Uttarakhand.

Women and girls will be allowed to ride for free in buses operated by the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC). The free travel idea has been given the nod by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. As a result of the CM’s decision, women and girls would be able to cross the state line for free on Wednesday, 30 August, in all regular and express buses operated by Rajasthan Roadways. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation will receive payment for the costs of this amenity from the government’s free travel reimbursement item.

Free Travel By Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service

The AMTS officials have established a free transportation programme for women inside the city. Women will be permitted to ride AMTS buses on Raksha Bandhan without needing to buy a ticket.

The municipality has also introduced customised buses on two extended routes in an effort to improve convenience for female commuters. These routes include Naroda to Arvind Polymer and Chandkheda to Vasna.

These buses will be converted into female-only buses during rush hour. The Mayor and other respected leaders will be present for the official debut of these vehicles.

Delhi MP Pravesh Verma Requested Free Travel For Women In Delhi Metro

Pravesh Verma, a member of parliament for West Delhi, sent a letter to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. In the letter, he requests that women be allowed to travel for free and the metro run until one in the morning. According to MP Pravesh Verma, many women go out on Raksha Bandhan to tie rakhi to their brothers.
