Ranchi Smart City was placed 12 in 2021 and 4 in 2022, according to the release. Following a stint in the top five, Jharkhand is now ranked first in the state-wise category, a position it has maintained regularly.

With a score of 324.48 out of 350 points during the competition, the government’s comprehensive efforts, which encompassed various parameters like completion of Smart City Mission development work, efficient fund utilisation, and steps taken for initiatives like ‘India Cycle for Change and Transport for All’, excelled.

The development efforts of Ranchi’s Dhurwa region, which are concentrated on infrastructure, are almost finished, and the last few chores should be completed shortly. The city successfully held three waves of auctions for large parcels of land for public and semi-public use, residential, mixed-use, institutional, and healthcare purposes, while the auction for the fourth phase is presently taking place.

Top-Notch Quality Of Development Work

The CEO of Ranchi Smart City Limited, Amit Kumar, expressed his enormous pride in the top-notch quality of development work being done and emphasised the need to start further construction as soon as possible.

Ranchi Smart City Limited is working on development projects of the highest calibre with the goal of starting building as soon as possible on the lots that were recently put up for auction. The commitment is made with the intention of making sure that certain lots are built on as soon as possible.

The work on smart cities concentrated on expanding the department’s development plans, according to Vinay Kumar Choubey, departmental secretary of the Urban Development and Housing department, and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Notably, the project’s command and control centre was finished in 2021 and is now fully functional, offering capabilities like traffic management and surveillance to the city’s citizens.

Sustainable Smart Cities

The CEO further emphasised how the Centre helps the Ranchi Police keep the roads safe by providing e-challans to about 3,000 people who break traffic laws every day.

“Infrastructure development for the Ranchi Smart City is nearing completion as well. This includes the 656-acre Ranchi Smart City ABD Area project and the state-funded urban civic tower project,” Kumar continued.

The goal of the Indian government’s National Smart Cities Mission is to create sustainable and livable smart cities throughout the nation through urban regeneration and retrofitting. The Indian government has currently designated 100 smart cities for construction.

Working with the state governments of the individual cities, the Union Ministry of Urban Development is in charge of carrying out the mission.
