Ankur Bagchi stated on his X handle, @JustAnkurBagchi about how his friend was molested a by Rapido driver in Bangalore at night. He stated in his post that one of his friends was sexually assaulted by a Rapido auto driver. She was touched inappropriately. On pushing back, he threw her out of a moving auto.
The woman then reached out to the ride-hailing platform to resolve this issue. In his words, while Rapido apologised to her for the issue they told her that they didn’t store driver details, so it wasn’t their problem. Ankur Bagchi said that they were helping her sort this out but the woman needs medical care.
Also, he asked X users if they have any leads to find this guy. He asked X users to ping him. Also, he urged X users to inform their family and female friends not to use Rapido. In his words, the ride-hailing platform enables sexual predators. @BlrCityPolice replied to his post and asked him to provide his contact details and specific details of the incident. On their part,@RapidoCares stated that the ride-hailing platform is bringing the said caption to the HAL police station at 4:30 pm to proceed legally with this issue.

Furthermore, @RapidoCares replied that they have contacted Ankur Bagchi’s friend over call. And they have shared necessary details with her over her registered email ID. Meanwhile, the woman has requested time from Rapido to decide if she wants to file a legal response. So, the company is waiting for her response. Moreover, Rapido informed on the post that they have terminated the captain permanently and have barred him from their platform. The ride-hailing platform has mentioned that they are offering full support to the woman to take legal action.

Meanwhile, Netizens took to the comments section to share their shock at what the woman faced in the city. @Spiky99 comments that a friend of hers also faced a similar incident using Rapido services, so she wouldn’t recommend the app to others. Many demanded Rapido to store and share driver details and do proper background checks. @FanofKangana comments that he faced an unpleasant experience with a drunk abusive driver from the app. Many asked the X user and his friend to take matters to the police station.
In 2 out of my 3 recent rides on rapido, the vehicle number mentioned in the app was different from the vehicle which actually came to pick me up.
