The recent announcement by the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI) has left people perplexed. In case you live under a rock and weren’t aware, the RBI has announced the discontinuation of ₹2000 notes. You still have till the 30th of September to get the notes deposited in banks or expended. This has sparked a meme-fest on Twitter and even corporations like Zomato are sharing their hilarious takes. Check out Zomato’s viral tweet.
Zomato’s Viral Tweet About The Whole ₹2000 Note Fiasco
On the 19th of May, Zomato posted a hilarious tweet about the ₹2,000 note fiasco. Their tweet summed up the three kinds of responses to the discontinuation of ₹2,000 notes. The first response, which they dubbed as “kid response” was what most people would do: getting the notes exchanged at banks.
The second response, which is what they call the “adult” response is to order food with the ‘cash-on-delivery’ option and pay with the ₹2,000 note. It is funny because now, not only does the delivery guy have to worry about giving change, but also because the note is their problem now.
The third response, which is how “legends” respond, is probably the best. It says that legends never had the ₹2,000 note in the first place. The implication is that these legends are so broke that they don’t have the luxury of ₹2,000 notes lying around.
Changing Tweets When Others Are Changing Notes
Hilarious as the tweet is, this is not the first tweet that they posted about this latest demonetisation. A screenshot posted by someone in response to the tweet above shows their original reaction which is now deleted from their account.
It seems that while everyone is busy changing their notes, Zomato is busy changing its tweet! The original tweet was Zomato pleading with its users to not pay for the ordered food with ₹2,000 note. Frankly, we don’t know which is more hilarious and why Zomato decided to delete the Tweet.
To add to the humour, Zomato recently tweeted an update. The tweet said that since Friday, 72 per cent of the payments have been with ₹2,000 notes. Don’t forget to check out the hilarious reactions in the replies!
