Redditor Exposes Small Shop On Swiggy Selling ‘Gourmet’ Pizzas Under 14 Different Restaurant Names

A Redditor has exposed a small pizza shop operating under 14 different restaurant names in Hyderabad on Swiggy, sparking concerns about deceptive practices on the platform. The user placed a Swiggy order for two pizzas from what was advertised as a gourmet restaurant. After ordering, he discovered that the restaurant was only 1 km away from his home. This proximity raised suspicion. He contacted Swiggy’s customer care team for clarification.

Swiggy’s representative informed him that a new outlet had recently opened in his area. However, the explanation did not satisfy his curiosity. The Redditor decided to investigate the matter by visiting the location himself. What he found shocked him. The supposedly gourmet restaurant was, in fact, a small shop, which was operating under 14 different restaurant names on Swiggy.

The Reddit user shared his experience on the platform, recounting his interaction with Swiggy’s customer care. When he first raised the issue, Swiggy promised to cancel the order and refund his money. Yet, to his surprise, Swiggy did not cancel the order. Instead, the food was delivered to his home as usual.

Following the delivery, the Redditor made another complaint through Swiggy’s chat support. This time, the response was swift. Without any further questioning, Swiggy refunded the entire amount for his order. However, the situation took another strange turn. About ten minutes after receiving his refund, he received a call from the manager of one of the listed restaurants, ‘Olio’. The manager enquired about the quality of the pizzas.

When the Redditor confronted him about the deception, the manager explained that he had taken dealership rights from multiple restaurants. Despite this explanation, the user remained unimpressed with both the pizzas and the dubious business practices. While these platforms offer convenience, they also open the door to potential fraud.

Customers may unknowingly fall victim to such scams, paying premium prices for food that does not live up to its advertised standards. In this case, the Redditor’s experience sheds light on the importance of transparency and trust in the food delivery industry. When customers place an order, they expect to receive food that matches the description provided on the platform.
