Residents Wake Up To Rainy Morning In Dubai & Abu Dhabi; Foggy Days Ahead

The first rain for 2025 has already arrived in the UAE as residents woke up across different parts of the country to a rainy morning on Friday, January 3. Complete with lightning strikes in some areas, the temperatures plunged to 2.2°C, making this the chilliest day in winter yet. Here’s all you need to know about the weather-related update.

Residents Wake Up To A Rainy Morning

Motorists have been advised to drive cautiously as residents in Dubai and Abu Dhabi woke up to a rainy morning on Friday. With wet roads in some areas of Dubai, such as Jumeirah, Al Safa, Al Jaddaf, and Umm Suqueim, people have been asked to drive with complete vigilance. As it happens, the Storm Centre also shared several videos of rain lashing the Dubai Road as vehicles moved on the roads.

People Asked To Drive Carefully

So, motorists have also been urged by the Dubai Police to be extra careful, and they have even reiterated some safety rules. People have been asked to drive slower and stay away from the edge of the road. Not to mention, they’ve been asked to switch on the low-beam lights and ensure that their wipers are working. It seems that rainwater also accumulated in some areas, especially near Al Warqa Mosque in Dubai. In Abu Dhabi, rain was recorded in the areas of Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Suhailia in Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah.

Frost Formation In Jebel Jais

As it happens, the mountains of Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah recorded the coldest temperature of 2.2°C at 6:45 AM this morning. Not only this, NCM released pictures of frost formation on the peak of the Jains mountains on its official account on X.

The weather report further states that there is a probability of fog or mist formation in some internal areas. However, the sea will be rough to moderate in the Arabian Gulf.
