Indian travellers are choosing the Philippines as their next tropical escape in growing numbers. Travel bookings from India have surged by 60% since the visa-free policy was introduced. The Philippines now allows Indian nationals visa-free entry for up to 14 days. This move has lowered key entry barriers for Indian tourists, making the destination more accessible to both first-time and frequent international travellers.

According to travel platform Atlys, the Philippines has quickly climbed the ranks among top Southeast Asian destinations for Indian tourists. The country moved from the eighth to the third most-searched destination on Atlys within days of the visa policy announcement. The momentum has not slowed since, with bookings now showing a sustained 60% increase compared to previous months.

This boost highlights the role that simplified entry processes play in influencing outbound travel patterns from India. Travellers from key metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore are showing the highest interest, with many opting for beach destinations like Cebu, Palawan, and Boracay. The removal of visa-related paperwork and costs has made it easier for Indian holidaymakers to consider the Philippines as a serious option for short-haul travel.

Travellers Choosing Beaches, Islands, And Culture

As reported by industry analysts, the majority of Indian travellers are planning leisure-focused holidays, blending scenic coastal experiences with cultural exploration. Popular itineraries include a mix of island stays, underwater adventure activities, and heritage tours in Manila and beyond. The visa-free policy, which applies exclusively to tourism and permits stays of up to 14 days, has encouraged both planned group tours and last-minute bookings.

Families, couples, and solo travellers have all contributed to the booking increase. Many are combining the Philippines with other Southeast Asian destinations in multi-stop itineraries, taking advantage of increased air connectivity in the region. According to Atlys, first-time international travellers are increasingly choosing the Philippines as a starting point, thanks to its affordability and simplified visa-free entry.

Direct Flights Strengthen Accessibility

The surge in demand coincides with better travel links between the two countries. As reported by Business Traveller, Air India will begin direct flights between Delhi and Manila from 1 October 2025. This route is expected to further drive interest and remove logistical barriers that previously made the Philippines a less convenient choice.

Indian passport holders must still meet eligibility requirements, including holding a passport valid for at least six months, having proof of accommodation, return or onward tickets, and sufficient financial means. Entry is permitted via all international airports and seaports in the Philippines, offering flexibility in planning routes.

Relaxed visa rules, better awareness, and improved flights have made the Philippines popular among Indian tourists. Experts expect this travel momentum to continue through the year-end holiday season. Young professionals and families are driving the demand for tropical getaways.
