His top priority for boosting the UK economy is investing in cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, synthetic biology, and semiconductors. According to data on tech companies in the UK, there will be 4.7 million individuals employed in the country’s wider digital tech industry in 2022, or around 14% of the country’s total employment. As of Q1 2022, the average salary for a tech job in the UK was £62,000 compared to £35,000 for non-tech occupations.
Coming to the question of talent in the UK that consists of international ones, Sunak hopes to make reforms for easy visas. In reference to achieving this objective, he remarked that the administration is constructing the most pro-investment tax environment. It is looking forward to boosting public R&D spending to record levels to make the visa system for overseas talent, one of the most competitive in the world.
Moreover, the UK will be working to modify the listing regulations to make it simpler for businesses to raise public money, as well as pension regulations to open up new sources of private finance.
