If you, too, loved stepping into RK Narayan’s world, you can now actually step into his home in Mysore. The literary legend’s abode is now a public museum!

If you loved stories as a child, chances are that Swami’s friends became your own. Seeing Swami get in and out of trouble was a major part of many people’s days. Children and adults alike relished Swami’s antics.

Clearly, RK Narayan’s contributions transcended literature and penetrated into the homes of people as well as their hearts. Such a legacy is accomplished by very few. In order to preserve his incalculable contributions, his home in Mysuru has been turned into a museum for all.

You can step into his home and get glimpses of his life, including where he sat and worked that brilliant and imaginative mind of his. You can observe the items he once touched and walk the very grounds that he once walked on.

The museum itself is quite cosy and even if you’re thorough, it should not take more than 45 minutes for you to go through it all. It is also important to note that there are no washroom facilities available there.

Hence, visitors are advised to plan their trips accordingly. The museum is a perfect spot for literary enthusiasts and RK admirers alike.
