Michael O’Leary, Ryanair CEO, recently stated that he wants airports to restrict flyers’ alcohol intake to two drinks. According to him, this crucial decision to control people’s consumption of alcoholic beverages would be effective in managing the surge in incidents of passengers causing flight disruptions.

The Ryanair CEO pointed out a significant reason while asking airports to put a drink limit. He shared how people are not allowed to drink and drive but they can just drink a few glasses of alcohol and board flights flying high in the air at 33,000 feet. According to a report by BBC, Michael O’Leary shared that many drunk passengers try to target cabin crew and co-flyers on their flights.

Talking about the past incidents, he added that flyers usually used to simply sleep during the journey after drinking a lot of alcohol. However, the scenario is quite the opposite presently as consumption is not just restricted to booze anymore. Passengers also consume powder and tablets triggering terrible behaviours in flight and causing major inconveniences for people around. Even cabin crew find it difficult to control these people.

O’Leary suggested flyers show their boarding passes while purchasing alcohol at any bar located at an airport. Though this step is a compulsion to buy cigarettes and booze at Duty-Free airport shops, the airline CEO wants the same rule to be issued at bars as well. Bars must not serve more than two drinks to anyone, especially during flight delays when passengers have a lot of free time, according to a report by The New York Post.

In addition to these, he also mentioned effective penalties for passengers who cause disturbances and delay flights.
