Wth the Hajj season nearly here, it was revealed that the Bangladeshi pilgrims will begin their journey on April 29. In fact, 5,200 Hajj pilgrims have registered through the government. This includes the completion of all formalities, including those of the allotment of tents in Mina and Arafah. Moreover, 81,900 have already registered for the hajj through 753 local agencies.

However, it should be noted that most of these agencies were acting as sub-agents. However, as mentioned in the report, pilgrims would travel under the official management of 70 agencies and restrict government monitoring.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that Bangladesh is one of the several countries that are covered by the Saudi project called ‘Road To Mecca’. This initiative offers pilgrimage-associated facilities, and it was re-launched in 2018 by the Saudi Interior Ministry. Giving pilgrims access to facilities, the initiative was kicked off on a trial basis a year earlier.

In case you’re wondering about the facilities, these include everything from issuance of electronic visa at home and finalising passport procedures to tagging and sorting out luggage at the departure airport. Once the pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia, they can go directly to their residence in the holy city of Mecca and Madinah. Meanwhile, their luggage is directly delivered to the residents.

One of the five core obligatory duties in Islam, it is important for Muslims to perform this religious duty, if they are physically and financially capable of doing so in their lifetime. So, are you also performing hajj this year? Do let us know in the comments!
