Saudi Arabia Announces New AI Rules, Scholarships & More At The 5th Media Forum

Saudi Arabia is exploring more ideas in terms of media. It’s not just planning them but also executing them. At the Saudi Arabia’s fifth Media Forum, leaders and global media experts laid out the roadmap of the Saudi media industry’s direction and vision in 2026.

Saudi Arabia Media Industry Updates In 2026

Ten years after Vision 2030 launched, the media sector is moving to the delivery phase. The new measures focus on creativity, credibility, and global relevance. It’s the three things Saudi Arabia now wants to lead on

According to reports by Scene Now, the forum brought together international voices to address how media must respond to cultural shifts, new technologies, and political realities.

New Programs Back Creators, Not Just Corporations

Among the 12 initiatives announced, two stood out immediately. The Media Innovation Camp aims to support creative projects at an early stage. Followed by it was the Virtual Broadcaster Program, which focuses on helping media entrepreneurs build businesses that are designed to survive longer.

Saudi Arabia is signalling that creators, startups, and independent voices have a place in its media future as serious contributors to the industry’s growth.

Clear Rules For AI Use In Media

Artificial intelligence was also discussed at the forum. Minister Salman Al-Dossary introduced a new framework that sets ethical guidelines for AI use in media.

The framework focuses on transparency, accountability, and responsible production. In plain terms, how to use AI tools without losing trust.

Documentaries, Film, And Cultural Storytelling Take Centre Stage

Saudi Arabia plans to produce plenty of content this year. Under the “Treasures” initiative, more than 30 documentaries and films are scheduled for release in 2026. These projects will spotlight Saudi heritage while also reflecting where the Kingdom is headed next.

Education, Translation, And Global Reach

Over 100 new placements have already been assigned this year through the Media Scholarship program, sending Saudi professionals to top global institutions.

At the same time, Saudipedia launched a new translation track, making content available in English, French, Chinese, Russian, and German.

Looking ahead, more than 2,000 creators and influencers from 90 countries are expected at the Impact Makers forum in Qiddiya.
