Here are the new Riyadh Metro rules that one must follow according to the website.
- You will be fined SAR200 in addition to the applicable fare if you fail to pay the transportation fee, provide proof of eligibility for a discounted fare, or validate your ticket.
- You can expect a fine of SAR500 if you are caught making serious violations, like climbing or jumping into the access system, entering or exiting the metro from unauthorised areas or after it has departed, or tampering with/damaging transport facilities.
- Get ready to be fined SAR200 if you cause any kind of disturbances, access unauthorised areas, smoke in prohibited zones, bring non-foldable transport, place your feet on the seats, sleep in areas where it’s not permitted, or carry items that have strong odours/perishable foods.
- Pay a fine of anywhere between SAR100 and SAR200 for minor violations like forcefully entering a vehicle that is full, entering or drinking in prohibited areas, blocking entrances, placing luggage in undesignated spaces, or even occupying seats that are reserved for people with disabilities.
- You may have to pay a fine of SAR300 if you are found engaging in dangerous behaviours, like extending your body or objects through windows, or even hanging onto the exterior of the vehicle.
- You may have to pay a fine of SAR200 if you are caught using a bicycle, skates, or a skateboard inside the vehicles or stations, which are prohibited.
