Saudi citizens might get visa-free entry to Russia soon. This comes after Russia has signalled that it could be taking a potential step towards easing travel restrictions for the citizens of the Kingdom. This was with a confirmation from Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister, that Moscow is working towards this development.
Russia Considering Visa-Free Entry For Saudi Citizens?
As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, it might be possible that Saudi Arabian citizens can get visa-free entry to Russia. This announcement came at a time when the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that Moscow is working towards making this a reality. Yes, it’s working towards waiving visa requirements for the nationals of Saudi Arabia. Strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations, this is truly a big step towards this development.
Spike In Saudi Tourists To Russia
Not to mention, this comes at a time when it was just recently revealed that Russia has witnessed a spike in visitors from Saudi Arabia. The arrival skyrocketed by a whopping 570% in just one year! And this has been attributed to the streamlined introduction of the electronic visa. Approximately 52,400 Saudi tourists visited the country in the year 2024.
These figures saw a sharp uptick in the number of visitors from just 9,300. As such, the significant rise in the number of tourists comes after Russia rolled out the e-visa system in August 2023. Not to mention, direct flights between Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam to Moscow have also contributed towards boosting tourism in Russia.

Jordan & Russia Sign A Visa Waiver
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that Jordan and Russia also recently signed a visa waiver agreement. This agreement allowed tourists could stay up to 30 days, as revealed by the Russian News Agency, Interfax. With a mutual visa exemption for short-term tourism signed, citizens of both countries can stay in the country for up to 30 days. However, the duration of this visit must not exceed 90 days in a year.
