Tucked away on Prince Nayef Street in Khobar, Ammamia isn’t your regular Italian eatery in Saudi Arabia. It’s a love letter to family meals, passed down through generations and now brought to life by Chef Alessandro Zingarelli. The restaurant is a tribute to his mother, the woman who first dreamed up the idea of a lasagna-only kitchen years ago in Belgium.

Now in its soft opening, Ammamia quietly invites you in with a simple logo: a woman in an apron. It’s not flashy, but it hits something familiar. You already feel like you’re walking into someone’s home kitchen. That’s the whole idea. Chef Alessandro isn’t just serving food, he’s recreating the warmth of his mother’s cooking, now shared with everyone in Khobar.

Ammamia, The GCC’s First Lasagneria In Saudi Arabia

This isn’t just another Italian spot. Ammamia is the first of its kind in the GCC to focus solely on lasagna. Each dish tells a story that’s been simmering for years, cooked the way only a mum or someone raised by one knows how.

Craving something familiar or feeling a little adventurous? Ammamia’s menu gets it. The Bolognese is rich and straight to the point, the Verde’s got that pesto kick that lingers just right, Bianca brings soft ricotta together with juicy meatballs, and the Parmigiana? That’s the kind of comfort you don’t rush.

A Mother’s Recipe, Brought to Life

Ammamia isn’t just a name, it’s Chef Alessandro’s way of keeping his roots close. It’s his take on Mamma Mia, the kind of phrase that’s always floating around Italian homes, usually between bites of something delicious. People around Khobar are already calling it a fresh take on the city’s food scene. And they’re not wrong. Ammamia proves that comfort food doesn’t need fancy tricks, just honest flavours, a solid recipe, and someone who respects where it all came from. Sometimes, all you really need is a hot plate of lasagna made the way it should be..

There’s no word yet on when Ammamia will hit Riyadh, but plans are in motion. Word is, more Saudi cities might soon get their own taste of Ammamia.
