The next time you think of dodging Riyadh traffic, imagine flying straight over it. That’s no longer sci-fi talk. Saudi Arabia is officially gearing up to produce thousands of locally made flying taxis, and they’ve already hit the runway with a solid plan. FlyNow Aviation, the brains behind this ambitious leap, has started building its assembly plant in the Kingdom.
Flying Taxis Made in Saudi Arabia? Thousands of eCopters Are on the Way By 2030

By 2027, the first cargo eCopters will roll, or rather, take off, out of production. And by 2030, just in time for the Riyadh Expo, these flying machines will be zipping people across the city, helping them skip the infamous jams. If you’ve driven in Riyadh, you know exactly why that’s worth celebrating.
This isn’t just a flashy announcement with no follow-through. FlyNow is not wasting time. They’ve got test flights lined up for 2025. These “sandbox flights” will fine-tune the technology and adapt it to Saudi Arabia’s weather and urban layout. The focus is on practicality, not just fancy tech.
The Plan Is Real, And It’s Happening Now
Here’s the cool bit. All of these eCopters will proudly wear the Saudi Made badge. The company wants these electric aircraft to be as common and affordable as a regular taxi. So, instead of sitting in gridlock, imagine booking a quick inner-city ride in the sky, at the same cost as a cab on the ground.
What Exactly Are These eCopters?
They go by the name eVTOLs, which is a fancy way of saying they lift off and land straight up without needing a runway. Think of them like sky cabs built for the city. They can easily slip into tight urban spots, making them ideal for packed areas like Riyadh or busy zones during big events like Expo 2030.
This push isn’t coming out of the blue. Just last year, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics said the Kingdom would start using flying taxis soon. The big focus is on serving pilgrims during the Hajj. Once the system is up and running, expect to see drones and air taxis helping transport people around the holy sites. That’s a big shift in how travel and logistics will work during peak seasons.

Saudi’s Eyes Are on the Sky
What Saudi is doing here isn’t just about flying cool gadgets around. This is about turning 3D mobility into an everyday thing. FlyNow wants flying to be as routine as hailing a cab. And no, it’s not a VIP-only ride. The whole idea is to make this flying experience something that everyday folks can use. Come 2030, don’t be shocked if you’re gliding over traffic and landing near your office like it’s the most normal thing ever.
