Sealdah Rajdhani Express Gets A ‘Museum On Wheels’ AC Coach To Celebrate Its 25th Anniversary

The first AC coach of the Sealdah Rajdhani Express, which is a Rajdhani train connecting Kolkata’s Sealdah station to Delhi, has been revamped to showcase a ‘Museum on Wheels’. Sealdah Rajdhani Express will now offer an immersive experience on a journey that celebrates its 25th anniversary. 

Sealdah Rajdhani Express Unveils A ‘Museum On Wheels’

The Ministry of Railways, India, has unveiled a completely revamped First AC coach of the Sealdah Rajdhani Express. The coach, named ‘A Tale of Two Capitals’, features a ‘Museum on Wheels’ that takes passengers on an immersive journey through the history and legacy of Kolkata and New Delhi. The news, shared by the Ministry of Railways on their official X handle, was met with excitement by many users. The account also shared photos of the new coach with the caption that read, “Tale of Two Capitals: Where History Boards the Train Celebrating 25 glorious years of the Sealdah Rajdhani Express, Eastern Railway unveils Museum on Wheels, a revamped First AC coach offering an immersive journey through shared legacy of Kolkata & New Delhi.”

This First AC coach, revamped to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this prestigious train, offers travellers a one-of-a-kind experience onboard. You will also be surprised to know that the coach features stunning artwork that gives a glimpse into the region’s history and culture through storytelling. The artwork also includes portraits of Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Rammohan Roy, and Swami Vivekananda, adding to the legacy of the train.

A Coach Designed To Celebrate History

As per India Today, Sealdah DRM Rajiv Saxena played a key role in designing the revamped AC coach, ‘Tale of Two Cities’. Rohit Ranjan from the Carriage and Wagon Department led the design team for the project. Officials behind the project also stated that their main goal was to make the journey more memorable for passengers. And yes, they seem to have done just that.

The photos of the newly redesigned First AC coach say it all. Moreover, the artwork spread across the train is sure to mesmerise any passenger who takes a seat here. Imagine sitting in a compartment where plain old walls have been painted with striking visuals that showcases the legacy of Delhi and Kolkata, two capitals that share a deep connection.
