As children, the nightmare of being served a veggie we hate by our mothers still runs deep. Lauki curry, bhindi ki sabzi, kaddu ki sabzi, the list of gourds and greens that have been left untouched on desi children’s plates is core memory. But how far would children go to steer clear of a dish they hate? In Nagpur, a 17-year-old boy ran away from home in anger after his mother cooked okra, a dish he despises with all his might. Here’s what happened.

As per a report by ThePrint, a 17-year-old boy fled from his Nagpur home. The reason? His mother cooked a dish with okra, a veggie he cannot stand. A police official told ThePrint, that the teenager had recently cleared his Class XII examinations. He was preparing for his college admissions. The boy and his mother would often be at loggerheads over bhindi. The green ladyfinger was a case of turmoil, as the mother cooked the staple for her family. But her son despised it and would often pick quarrels with his mother when she used the ingredient in her dishes.
