Ramadan is just a few days away, and one can already expect a multitude of shops popping up around the UAE, displaying and cooking delicious food that will be perfect for Iftar. However, Sharjah restaurants have to apply for permits if they wish to prepare food during the day throughout Ramadan. For this purpose, the emirate has rolled out two types of permits that are available for eating. Take a look!
Sharjah To Issue Permits For Food Establishments
Recently, Sharjah City Municipality announced that it has already begun issuing permits. These permits are being given for food preparation and sales during Ramadan. Moreover, permits will be granted for shops that wish to display food outside establishments before Iftar. But before we type into the details about these permits, it’s worth mentioning that the holy month is anticipated to begin on March 1, which is a Saturday. And based on the astronomical calculation at the moment, it is expected to span for 30 days.

A Look At The Two Permits For Eateries
Coming back to the permit, there are two of them that the shop owners must apply for with varying pay
Sharjah Municipality is allowing eateries to prepare and serve food during the fasting hours. However, they must apply for the required permits.
- The permit is issued for food preparation and sales sites and these also include shopping malls.
- The food prepared must be served outside and customers are not allowed to be received in the dining area.
- Food preparation and cooking are only allowed inside the kitchen.
- The permit assurance fee for this is AED3000.
For displaying food for sale outside shops before the Iftar permit
- This permit is issued for bakery, restaurants, cafeterias, and sweet shops.
- The display of the food must be on the front sidewalk if it’s not sandy.
- Food must be placed in a non-corrosive metal container, and displayed in a glass box that is not less than 100 centimetres with a sliding or hinged door.
- Food prepared must be stored at the appropriate temperature, which is not chilled or frozen.
- Display of food must be prepared at the establishment according to the permitted activity,
- The permit issuance fee is AED500 for this.
