In a brilliant round of development, the Sharjah Road and Transport Authority has now introduced electric buses to its feet. Yes, this means residents in the emirate will soon be able to board these buses and travel. The emirate’s RTA continues to expand its drive towards a more sustainable mode of transport. However, it was also revealed in a report by the National News that 10 new electric taxis have also been introduced to its fleet! Yes, these new addition comes as the next step towards offering a more environmentally friendly transportation offer to the passengers.

However, what is brilliant is that soon Tesla Model S and Model 3 electric vehicles will also become a part of the taxi fleet in Sharjah, as revealed by the same report. This means that you might soon get a chance to travel around the emirate in a Tesla taxi! It should be noted that offering the public to use the new transportation choices is part of the definite move towards a greener transport solution. Moreover, this development comes after it was revealed that the transport chief’s plan of increasing the conversion rate of taxes to hybrid. The plan is to reach 100%, which is a massive upgrade from the previous 65% target.

Finally, earlier this month, it was also revealed by the Sharjah RTA that trials for Chinese Skywell electric vehicles had already begun.
